A sestina is a fixed verse form consisting of six stanzas of six lines each, normally followed by a three-line tercet. The words that end each line of the first stanza are used as line endings in each of the following stanzas, rotated in a set pattern. Sestinas are usually written about long-winded, boring and mundane things. (From experience), they make you think; and this workshop will put exactly that at the centre.

We will be thinking about a time when we were not able to make a decision (could be the present), read two sample Sestinas, then follow a set of instructions to write our own. If time permits, we will share and help each other edit our works.

We will be providing pens and papers, but you are free to bring your laptops (If that’s what you are more comfortable writing on)
