Heartbreak, dust, pigeons, and some magic is how Rutaba sees Karachi lately. This is one evening we shall feel for our city and try to capture some of its madness, magic, and also explore our chaotic relationship with the city. Bring along with you your peak Karachi stories.
This is a part of Rutaba’s ongoing series ‘Karachi in Shambles’ which explores Karachi through discussions, artmaking and publication. “Each day I came home brimming with the manic psychic energy of the city, with countless nameless voices in my head, and tried to write it all. But nothing I wrote was up to the task of capturing this ruinously mad city.” – Bilal Tanweer (The Scatter Here is Too Great)
This workshop is free for all. We encourage minimal waste, so please bring your paper, sketchbooks, or other drawing instruments along with your creativity with yourself. We will have A4 sheets, basic pointer pens, pencils, and erasers available from our end if needed.
Nani Ghar Drawing Room is a weekly drawing series where we create and share art together. This series is inclusive for all people wanting to make art in a judgement free zone. No prior skills required, just your imaginations!
The Drawing Room is also a community-led initiative, so feel free to propose what you'd like to do next. This is also an opportunity for anyone who wants to lead a workshop! If you have an idea, and would like to lead a workshop, please reach out, the team will be there to support you in planning and facilitation.
