Join us in this enlightening experience, where art becomes a conduit for cultivating emotional well-being.

A four-week workshop series with Abeer Ahmed. All material will be provided and you can take your artworks with you at the end.

Session 1: Introduction to Emotions - Emotion Monsters - 17 Feb

The first workshop is an introduction to the participants to explore emotions as more than internal feelings. Participants will be encouraged to consider emotions as visual beings to take the first step towards understanding and exploring their own emotional awareness.
After exploring different emotions through art-making, the participants will be invited to share and discuss the different emotions they worked on and how they can be related to one another. Understanding emotions as and relating it to the self is the first step towards understanding emotional awareness.

Session 2: Emotions Within the Self - Mindful Body Scan - 24 Feb

The second workshop aims to build on the foundation of emotional understanding by moving the focus of the participants to the signs their bodies are experiencing in the present moment.
The session would include a deeper understanding of emotional awareness, coping skills to manage overwhelming emotions, a guided meditation and art-making process on how to conduct a self-body scan through mindfulness.

Session 3: Mapping Emotions - Emotion Map - 02 March

The third session expands on the body scan by encouraging participants to think back and identify a time period for them to map out emotionally. This process encourages participants to get imaginative with their emotional maps and create a world that helps them process their feelings and emotions.
This session will involve discussing the importance of emotional resilience, personal strength on the journey to emotional awareness, and explore different coping skills when considering the regulating process.

Session 4: Emotional Language Learning - Emotion Wheel - 09 March

The final session of the series aims to provide the participants with the opportunity to use their reflection and knowledge to create an emotion wheel for themselves. The Emotion Wheel will be an excellent toolkit for participants to use in their lives on a daily basis to help regulate their emotions whilst giving themselves the space to decide how they would like to express themselves.
The session will provide information on the use of emotion wheels, the different layers one can add to it in order to understand emotions better and the space to reflect on various ways to practice self-compassion when regulating themselves.
