The CFAW Story
This is how we came into being, our origin story, and how it informs who we are today
At the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic, two doctors bought together their expertise in art and public health and envisioned CFAW and Nani Ghar to be a center for creativity, beauty, wellness, joy, light, and community.
Since 2020, CFAW has been weaving together the seemingly separate fabrics of community wellness, culture, health, advocacy, and policy through creative storytelling, archiving and documentation.
CFAW has facilitated well over 250+ events, workshops, and courses for the community and continues to make space for artists and lovers of art in Karachi through art residencies, music gatherings, and wellbeing sessions.
CFAW is also growing as an institute where we share knowledge through novel approaches and foster horizontal learning through the intersections of community and art. We hope to grow our community of artists, practitioners, and professionals to further our work in the community. We also hope to work with indigenous, cultural and local forms of knowledge and create an alternate lens to experience change through a community-focused approach.
After all, at its heart, CFAW has always been about celebrating beauty, even when it isn’t beautiful.
